The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) said on Tuesday it does not have enough details about ongoing Israeli violence against the Palestinian prisoners that it is holding, Arabi21.com has reported.

“We do not have enough details about what is going on inside Israeli detention centres,” said ICRC spokesman in the Occupied West Bank, Yahya Maswadah. “We are aware of the news reports about the situation inside Nafha Prison and inside the other Israeli detention centres. We call on the Israeli detention authorities to calm down the situation.”

The ICRC spokesman stressed the importance of protecting the prisoners and maintaining their human dignity. “This is one of the ICRC’s priorities,” he pointed out.

ICRC officials will visit the Israeli detention centres, including Nafha Prison, in the coming days in order to look closely at the situation of the prisoners.

Maswadah told Arabi 21 that the ICRC is going to prepare reports about the situation inside the detention centres and present them to the Israeli authorities.
