Algeria’s President Abdelmadjid Tebboune arrived in the Egyptian capital Cairo on Monday for a two-day official visit, Anadolu has reported. This is just his third visit to an Arab country since taking office in December 2019.

Tebboune was welcomed by his Egyptian counterpart, Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, and senior officials upon his arrival at Cairo International Airport. The Algerian leader will hold talks with Egyptian officials on ways to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.

A statement issued by his office said that Tebboune will also discuss preparations for the Arab League summit, Syria’s return to the Arab League, the Palestinian issue and the latest developments in Tunisia and Libya. Algeria is mobilising support ahead of the upcoming summit, which will be dedicated to supporting the Palestinian cause.

Arab ambassadors in Algiers were told on Saturday that no date has yet been set for the Arab League meeting.
