Police were forced to escort an Egyptian teacher out of school last week after students mobbed her because she refused to allow them to take mobile phones into exam halls out of fear that they would cheat.
Wedad Hamdi Abdel Hamid, deputy headmistress of a secondary school for girls and head of an examination committee at Muhammad Al-Shaqri Preparatory School in El-Senbellawein in Dakahlia Governorate, said that she waged a war on cheating during the mid-year exams and came under attack from students and their parents as a result.
After being warned of a plot to beat her and receiving similar threats via text message she informed the police.
Wedad added that she had taken extra measures to ensure exam papers were not stolen from the school.
Video footage shared on social media appears to show the teacher being escorted out of the school building under police guard as students scream and try to attack her. She has since filed a complaint against her abusers.
