The Palestinian Authority warned on Wednesday that the Israeli military escalation in the occupied West Bank, along with the genocide in the Gaza Strip, will lead to “serious and dangerous” consequences.

“The Israeli aggression that began at dawn today [Wednesday] on the northern West Bank, which has so far led to the martyrdom of nine citizens and the injury of dozens, comes as a continuation of the comprehensive war on our people, our land and our holy sites,” said Palestinian presidency spokesman Nabil Abu Rudeineh.

The official held the US responsible for providing protection and support for the Israeli occupation to continue its war. “This escalation policy, destruction of cities, killing of citizens, arrests and colonisation will not bring security and stability to anyone, and everyone will pay the price for this Israeli foolishness,” insisted Abu Rudeineh. He called on the US to “intervene immediately and force the occupation authorities to stop their comprehensive war.”

The world, he added, must take immediate and urgent action to curb this “extremist” government that poses a threat to the stability of the region and the world as a whole.

At dawn on Wednesday, the Israeli army launched a military operation in the northern West Bank, the largest since 2002, with early figures indicating that at least nine Palestinians had been killed and scores more were wounded.

In conjunction with its war against the Palestinians in Gaza since 7 October last year, the Israeli occupation army has escalated its attacks in the occupied West Bank, including Jerusalem, killing 661 Palestinians, including 150 children, wounding more than 5,400 and arresting more than 10,000, according to official Palestinian data.
