Yemen’s Houthi group yesterday revealed that a new long-range drone was used for the first time to attack the Israeli city of Eilat earlier in the day, Anadolu reported.

The 26 September website, which is affiliated with the Houthi aligned Ministry of Defence said: “The Yemeni Armed Forces have used the Samad-4 drone, which has dual mission including reconnaissance and offensive operations.”

According to the site, the Samad-4 drone can reach more than 2,000 kph, and is able not to be picked up by air defences.

The drone is the first Yemeni-made drone capable of carrying air-to-ground bombs and was used for the first time yesterday to carry out military operations against Israeli military targets in Eilat.

According to the website, the Samad-4 drone is three metres long and has a wingspan of five metres, can carry two bombs, each weighing up to 25 kilogrammes, and can carry out surveillance missions and precise targeting operations.

The Houthis also said they targeted Jaffa and Eilat in central Israel yesterday.
