Israeli opposition leader Yair Lapid said on Tuesday that any agreement with Hezbollah “will not erase the shame,” Al Jazeera news network has reported.

“A deal to return the hostages and all citizens to their homes must be reached,” he insisted. “The Israeli government was dragged into a ceasefire and failed to turn military victories into political achievements.”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Tuesday that the occupation regime has accomplished great achievements on the seven fronts on which its forces are fighting. He also stressed his regime’s commitment to “returning the hostages in Gaza to their homes,” saying, “We will [also] return all citizens in the north to their homes.”

A warrant for Netanyahu’s arrest was issued by the International Criminal Court last week. He faces charges of committing war crimes and crimes against humanity.

Meanwhile, the Israeli Broadcasting Corporation reported that divisional commanders in the Israeli occupation forces were summoned to a meeting with the head of the Northern Command to discuss the ceasefire agreement. The ceasefire came into effect at 4am local time today.
