Families of Israeli captives held in Gaza have accused Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of hindering a potential deal that could secure the release of 63 individuals still being held by resistance factions in the Strip.

Speaking during a Knesset session yesterday morning, the families voiced fears that delays in releasing the final group of Palestinian prisoners might jeopardise the entire prisoner exchange deal, leaving the remaining captives in Gaza abandoned.

Avi Natan Or’s uncle criticised Netanyahu saying: “You have dragged us to the lowest point, turning us into a pack of wolves preying on each other.”

Meanwhile, Yosef Engel, the grandfather of an Israeli captive, told the Knesset session: “I have never been as ashamed of Israel and its leadership as I am today because of this deal. Hamas has shown us, through the handover of live captives and bodies, who is truly victorious in this war.”

He added: “I urge you to do everything necessary to secure the release of the 63 remaining hostages in Gaza.”
