Syria yesterday condemned the Israeli presence on its territory and called for an immediate withdrawal, urging the international community to assume its responsibilities in this regard.

During the closing statement of the National Dialogue Conference, convened by Syrian President Ahmad Al-Sharaa to establish a political roadmap for the country, participants denounced what was described as the “Israeli incursion into Syrian territory as a blatant violation of the country’s sovereignty,” according to Sky News Arabia.

It also called for an “immediate and unconditional” Israeli withdrawal, rejecting what it termed as “provocative statements” by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and urged the international community and regional organisations to take responsibility and exert pressure to halt Israel’s aggression and violations.

The Syrian National Dialogue Conference began yesterday in the capital, Damascus, with the absence of several entities, most notably the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

The SDF was not invited, as it is a military organisation that refused to integrate into the Ministry of Defence under the new Syrian administration.

According to the conference’s preparatory committee, invitations were extended to Syrian social elites rather than military formations, and no political or military bodies were invited in their official capacity.
