In one of the largest demonstrations witnessed in Tunisia since 2011, tens of thousands marched on the capital, Tunis, on Saturday in support of the Islamist-led government.

In a calculated show of strength, supporters of the Nahda party gathered near the offices of the prime minister shouting, ‘no to coup, yes to election.’

Al-Nahda had called on its members and partners to turn out in support of the country’s government. Since the 3 July coup in Egypt, Tunisia has witnessed a series of opposition protests calling for the resignation of the government.
