Gaza’s only power plant grinds to a halt

EXCLUSIVE PICTURES

Vice-President of the Palestinian Energy Authority in the Gaza Strip, Mr Kanan Obeid, confirmed that the only electricity plant in the sector grounded to a halt today because of a lack of fuel.

This development will add further hardship and misery upon the Strip’s 1.5 million population now blockaded for the fourth year by the Israeli Occupation. Prior to the stoppage residents were only afforded a few hours of electricity daily, despite the acute heat of summer.
