More than 35 PKK fighters killed in northern Iraq

Turkish security forces killed more than 35 members of the PKK in airstrikes in northern Iraq after 16 soldiers were killed on Sunday evening in the south-eastern Hakkari province, security sources said today.

The sources said during an intensive air attack 20 PKK targets in northern Iraq were bombed by 35 F-16 and 18 F-4 aircrafts late yesterday.

According to initial findings, between 35 and 40 PKK terrorists were killed, the sources added.

Speaking at a press conference yesterday, Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said: “These mountains will be cleaned of terrorists. No matter what happens they will be cleaned.”
