Turkish security forces killed more than 35 members of the PKK in airstrikes in northern Iraq after 16 soldiers were killed on Sunday evening in the south-eastern Hakkari province, security sources said today.

The sources said during an intensive air attack 20 PKK targets in northern Iraq were bombed by 35 F-16 and 18 F-4 aircrafts late yesterday.

According to initial findings, between 35 and 40 PKK terrorists were killed, the sources added.

Speaking at a press conference yesterday, Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said: “These mountains will be cleaned of terrorists. No matter what happens they will be cleaned.”
