The Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement — Hamas — has hailed the Palestinian Authority’s refusal to meet with US Vice President Mike Pence, Felesteen.ps reported on Monday. When Pence announced his plan to visit the Palestinian territories and meet with PA officials, Ramallah made it clear that he would not be welcome.

“The PA should take a step further and adopt a clear stance regarding the US Administration,” said Hamas spokesman Hazim Qasim, “which has violated international law regarding one of the holiest sites of the Palestinians and the Arabs.”

He pointed out that successive presidents in Washington have supported the Israeli occupation. “Hence, the PA must end its relationship with the current administration, which is the most supportive of Israel.”
