Palestinian Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah will meet with Israeli Finance Minister Moshe Kahlon in Jerusalem on Sunday, an Israeli official said yesterday.

The official gave no further details.

Kahlon and Hamdallah frequently meet to discuss economic issues, however the last meeting between the senior officials was on 30 October, over a month before US President Donald Trump’s decision on Jerusalem.

There was no immediate comment from the Palestinian side on the meeting.

In the wake of the US decision, Palestinian-American relations have been strained ending decades of US diplomacy, after the Palestinians said America can no longer play the role of mediator in the peace process. In retaliation, Washington froze $65 million in US aid to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).

Moreover, earlier this month, Trump threatened to cut all financial aid to the Palestinian Authority if it refused to negotiate with Israel.
