No one can deny the achievements made by Algeria during the 20-eayr rule of President Abdelaziz Bouteflika, the premier said yesterday.

Marking Labour Day, Bouteflika said: “On the political level, our democratic pluralistic system has been strengthened and the rights and freedoms were enshrined which culminated in the constitutional amendment of 2016.”

“We have built millions of homes and we overcame unemployment to a considerable extent.”

Bouteflika came to power in 1999 and opposition groups have repeatedly said he has “monopolised decision making and marginalised parties and trade unions” during his rule.
