Algerian political scientist Abd al-Ali Rezzagi has said President Abdelaziz Bouteflika will not stand for a fifth term.

In an interview with Quds Press, Rezzagi stated that: “recent moves have mislead public opinion, but the president is commonly  chosen by the military establishment who are secretive.”

Rezzagi pointed out that “France, also plays a role in choosing the Algerian presidency, may not agree to keep Bouteflika for a fifth term.”

“Macron, who is preparing to visit Algeria and who took a picture last year with Bouteflika. However Macron is also seeking a second term in France and will not sacrifice his Political future for the sake of Bouteflika.”

“The Liberation Front is only a political cover to give legitimacy to the president, and President Bouteflika does not give it any attention,” Rezzagi said.

He added: “the only parts responsible for determining a president in Algeria is after all the military establishment, the presidential institution, and France.”

Rezzagi warned against “Algeria sliding into chaos in case of the renewal of Bouteflika, or the nomination of the current Prime Minister Ahmed Ouyahia.”

However, the Algerian security expert dissident of the regime Karim Moulai, stated in an interview with Quds Press, that he believes that “the path to President Bouteflika’s fifth term is already paved.”

“The forces are aligned behind Bouteflika domestically and internationally ”

Algerian media sources leaked information about the establishment of a national coordination to support a fifth term for President Abdelaziz Bouteflika.
