Syrian opposition groups yesterday resumed talks with Russian troops on a peace deal that would have the fighters hand over their weapons and accept Syrian regime rule of area, Reuters reported.
Ibrahim Al-Jabawi, spokesman of the Southern Front, said that the opposition groups had presented their response to the Russian demands that included the handing over of their weapons in a deal that ends the fighting.
According to Reuters, on Saturday opposition groups had walked out of talks with Russia as a result of the demands made of them which they said amounted to a humiliating surrender.
They were however urged to go back to the negotiating table by Jordan, the news site reported.
Al-Jabawi has said the meetings had failed on Saturday. “The Russians were not ready to listen to our demands as they gave us only one choice which is accepting their humiliating conditions – to surrender. We refused this.”
