Egypt: Bodies of 3 ‘mutilated’ children found dumped on street

Egyptian security yesterday found the bodies of three children wrapped in plastic bags in Cairo’s eastern neighbourhood of Marioteya, local media reported.

A security source said the bodies of three children were found “mutilated and rotten in black garbage bags near an abandoned villa in the Marioteya neighbourhood.”

“The killing is likely to have been committed a week ago,” the source pointed out.

The discovery was made by a female who lives in the area who saw dogs scavenging among what she thought was rubbish as she was walking to work.

Preliminary investigations have revealed that the bodies belong to a one-year-old baby, and two children aged three and five. Police are currently working on extracting closed circuit television (CCTV) footage from the surrounding buildings in an attempt to identifying the perpetrators.
