Iran: Israel will ‘regret’ attacking Syria

Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Ali Shamkhani yesterday warned that Israel will regret attacking Iranian Revolutionary Guards deployed in Syria or government forces.

“The Zionist regime has been trying to establish a crisis in Syria and has taken steps to directly support terrorist groups and target the Syrian army and forces who are confronting terrorism,” he said. “And if it continues, it will face reactions that will cause regret.”

Shamkhani made the remarks during a meeting with his Russian counterpart, Nikolai Patrushev, in Tehran.

Iran claims that its forces in Syria play an advisory role in the war against Daesh militants and the armed factions there.
