Some 40 journalists were killed and 76 others were wounded in Iraq between 2015 and 2017, the Association for the Defence of Press Freedom in Iraq said on Sunday.
In a report, the organisation said that most of the casualties fell during the 2017 military operation to liberate Mosul from Daesh, which occupied it in 2014.
The majority of the 430 documented violations against freedom of the press in the country were carried out by government and security sides.
According to the report, unknown armed groups continue to target journalists in Iraq.
Iraq has become one of the most dangerous countries for media workers since the start of the American invasion in 2003.
Estimates show that more than 455 journalists have been killed in the country since 2003.
