Russia's Lavrov arrives in Kuwait for talks

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov arrived in Kuwait on Tuesday as part of a wider tour of the Gulf region, according to the Kuwait News Agency, Anadolu reports.

Lavrov was received by several top Kuwaiti officials, including Deputy Foreign Minister Khaled al-Jarallah and Kuwaiti Ambassador to Russia Abdulaziz al-Adwani.

According to Kuwaiti diplomatic sources, Lavrov hopes to discuss pressing regional issues, including the situations in Yemen, Syria and Libya, and the future of Gulf-Iranian relations.

Earlier Tuesday, Lavrov met with Saudi King Salman bin Abdul Aziz, with whom he discussed regional and international developments.

Kuwait is the third leg of Lavrov’s Gulf tour, which began with Qatar and Saudi Arabia and will wrap up Thursday in the United Arab Emirates.
