A Turkish boy has made headlines after cutting the ribbon too soon during the opening ceremony of a new highway tunnel in the Turkish Black Sea province of Rize.

The boy, who was standing in front of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan during the ceremony, could be seen eagerly waiting to cut the ribbon before being overcome and going for the snip. He later takes the two sides of the ribbon and holds them together in an effort to repair the damage.

Erdogan can be seen jokingly tapping the boy on the head when he notices him holding the cut ribbon together.

The scene was then set up again in order for the inauguration to be completed as planned. It was high fives for all the children present from the president at the end of the ceremony.
