Cuban President Diaz-Canel led Havana’s protest demanding a ceasefire in Gaza

Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel led a massive rally in Havana on Saturday in solidarity with the Palestinian people amidst the Israeli genocide in Gaza. The rally was organised by the Union of Young Communists.

The Cuban president and all of his Cabinet members took part in the rally, where chants rang out in support of Palestine and condemnation of the Israeli attacks.

Diaz-Canel shared photos of the rally on his X account, highlighting the “great suffering” endured by the Palestinians. He expressed his outrage at the lack of punishment for those who bomb the people of occupied Palestine mercilessly, and made it clear that Cuba would not remain indifferent to such crimes.

“Enough of brutality, enough of abuse, and enough of impunity,” added the Cuban president, as he pointed out that Gaza is the “largest open prison” in the world. Moreover, he urged the United States to end its hypocrisy, and made a point of mentioning its UN Security Council veto against a ceasefire resolution.
