Israel has summoned the Swedish ambassador over Foreign Minister Margot Wallstrom’s call for a probe into Tel Aviv’s “extrajudicial executions” of Palestinians, Press TV reported.
Wallstrom called on Tuesday for a probe into the large number of Palestinians being killed by Israeli forces on a daily basis.
“It is vital that there are thorough, credible investigations into these deaths in order to clarify and bring about possible accountability,” she said.
The former Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman was quoted by Israeli public radio as saying: “The only work that Swedish Foreign Minister did not do for Israel is to join the Palestinians and carry out stabbing acts.”
Since October 2014, the occupied Palestinian territories have witnessed heightened tensions. Nearly 150 Palestinians have died in the violence.
