Israel reinforces army presence in West Bank and increases arrests

Israel has stepped up arrests in the West Bank and increased the police presence in Jerusalem and the surrounding Arab Towns and villages, local media reported today.

This morning, the army strengthened its forces in the West Bank, while the police remained on high alert in all regions of the country, especially in Jerusalem.

Israeli security forces held a meeting yesterday evening to assess the situation on the ground. They decided to intensify the army presence in the West Bank, to keep the police on high alert and to increase the number of arrests in the West Bank and Jerusalem.

According to Israeli reports, six Palestinians were arrested last night in the West Bank; four from the Nablus area, one from the southern village of Qalqiliya and one from Hebron.
