Al-Ashqar: Security services dismantled a cell that planned to harm Gaza’s citizens

Security services in the Gaza Strip recently dismantled a cell that had intended to harm the Palestinian people, the head of the Palestinian Legislative Council’s Interior and Security Committee said yesterday.

Speaking to Quds Press, Ismail Al-Ashqar said that during a meeting with the director of the Internal Security Forces and the director general of the Palestinian police, the Security Committee was informed about the latest developments regarding detecting the cell as well as anti-drugs efforts.

He asserted that the security services are now aware of all the details regarding the cell, “which was formed to deal a blow to security in the Gaza Strip,” pointing out that “all the defendants will appear before military courts.”

The fact that the cell was discovered and dismantled “before it carried out any operations” affirms the vigilance of the security services in the Gaza Strip, he explained.

Al-Ashqar said he valued the role of the Ministry of the Interior, including all its security services, in controlling security and combating crime and drugs.

He pointed out that the committee also discussed the deployment of security and police forces along the Gaza border and border crossings, as well as the continued closure of the Rafah crossing.
