Egyptian political parties have begun a feverish race towards the upcoming presidential elections slated for 2024, although the exact date for the vote has not been announced.
The Al-Wafd, Republican People and Democratic Peace Parties have either announced or are about to announce their candidates, while others including Mostaqbal Watan (Nation’s Future Party), Homat Al-Watan announced their support for the candidacy of President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi for a new term.
Al-Sisi’s supporters have even taken to the streets and the last few days have witnessed a significant rise in the number of parties that have declared their support for Al-Sisi’s candidacy under the pretext of giving him space to continue with his “development plans” for the country.
Some have published banners declaring their support for Al-Sisi and posted them on streets and squares across the country.
