PA: ‘Israel occupation direct threat to region, Europe, world security’

The Palestinian Authority (PA) announced on Friday that the Israeli occupation is a direct threat to the security of the region, Europe and the world.

In a statement issued by the PA’s Foreign Ministry, the PA asserted that the remarks by Israeli Army chief Herzi Halevi, in which he considered the West Bank a direct threat to Europe, reiterate that Israeli officials do not miss any opportunity to defame Palestinians.

The statement stressed that Halevi: “Turned the reality on the ground upside down to hide the fact that the existence of the Israeli occupation on the land of Palestinians is a violation of international law.”

At the same time, the statement stressed the Israeli occupation: “Is the main cause of the tension in the region and it is the direct threat to the security of the region, Europe and the whole world.”

The Foreign Ministry criticised the Israeli occupation officials for speaking about everything: “But avoiding speaking about their occupation of Palestinian lands.”

It added: “The Israeli occupation officials have been trying to mislead the world bodies and world leaders whenever they speak about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The Palestinian people are the victim of the continuous Israeli occupation and its crimes, as well as a victim of the international double standards and the lack of courage to criticise the misleading Israeli stances.”
