Israeli security sources say the ongoing war against Iran is not advancing at the pace set by the military at the start of operations.

Israel’s public broadcaster reported on Sunday, citing unnamed security officials, that the opening strike of the military campaign was “better than expected”. However, they said the war is not progressing according to the timetable initially set by the military.

The sources added that the objectives of the war in Iran “should be reassessed”.

They also said the course of the military operations is not moving according to the schedule Israel set at the start of the campaign.

According to the officials, one challenge facing Israel is the difficulty of pushing large numbers of Iranians to take to the streets to protest against the government. Some Israeli estimates had expected such protests to occur during the war.

The sources claimed that the United States and Israel are planning additional steps in Iran that are expected to influence the course of the war in the coming period.

In a previous statement, the Israeli military said one of the main objectives of the air force in the early days of the war was to achieve “air superiority” over Iran.

According to the Israeli military, about 100 air defence systems and 120 radar detection systems inside Iran have been destroyed. Tehran, meanwhile, fired around 360 missiles towards Israel during the first two weeks of the war, which began on 28th February.
