The preliminary results of Israel’s elections point to a sharp shift towards greater racism, extremism and fascism, Mustafa Barghouti, secretary-general of the Palestinian National Initiative (PNI), said on Wednesday.
He said intensifying rivalries between political camps in Israel did not indicate any fundamental change in their positions on the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people.
Barghouti stressed that Palestinians, wherever they live, would remain the main force resisting growing Israeli racism.
He said Palestinians were engaged in a single, unified national struggle against the occupation, despite differences in their circumstances and locations.

He said this struggle was reflected in the resilience of Palestinians in the occupied West Bank and their resistance to settler violence and the expansion of settlements and outposts, particularly in Hebron, where strict security measures and intensified military operations are in place.
He also pointed to the steadfastness of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip as they face Israel’s military campaign and its catastrophic humanitarian consequences.
Barghouti said the growing strength of far-right forces in Israel was being met by greater Palestinian presence and resilience.
He stressed that confronting settlement plans and racist policies required strengthening national unity, adding that Palestinian resilience in Gaza, the West Bank and inside Israel remained the fundamental pillar to resisting the occupation.
