Tunisia’s former President Moncef Marzouki has said the world needs Egypt free of corruption and tyranny.

In a statement posted on Monday on his Facebook page addressing the Egyptian President Abdel Fatah Al-Sisi’s call for Tunisians to preserve their country, Marzouki said: “Sisi tells us Tunisians to preserve our country! This is the same man who misled his country!”

“I tell the wonderful Egyptian people…the Arab world, the Arab Spring, the Palestinian cause, our besieged brothers in Gaza and the world need Egypt free of corruption and tyranny because it was and will remain our nation’s shield,” he added.

Marzouki called on the Egyptian people not to be drawn into violence, despite the regime’s provocations, stressing that tyranny will eventually be gone.
