Scores of Palestinian teachers demonstrated yesterday demanding the Palestinian security services release their colleagues.
Twenty-two teachers were arrested on Wednesday after they participated in a two-day strike demanding a wage increase in the West Bank city of Ramallah.
Palestinian Ma’an news agency reported Palestinian teacher Yousef Badran saying that the Palestinian Authority has not fulfilled a 2013 pledge to increase teachers’ salaries by 10 per cent.
Teachers have to survive on salaries of about $640 per month and “all we demand is a decent life”, he said.
