Palestinian Authority (PA) Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh yesterday said the deterioration of the situation in the Gaza Strip is a result of the continuous Israeli siege imposed on the coastal enclave, Al-Wattan Voice reported.

Speaking during a meeting with the head of the International Red Cross Commission in Jerusalem Danial Dovlar, Shtayyeh said: “The world must not forget that the issue of the Palestinians is not only a humanitarian one, but also a political.”

The Gaza Strip, he continued, has been suffering under an Israeli siege for more than 12 years and this is to serve the American plan to pass the peace agreement dubbed the “deal of the century”, end any chance of a  two-state solution and turn the Palestinian issue in to an humanitarian one.

Israel waged wars on Gaza to divert attention from its judaisation policies at the holy sites in Jerusalem, where the Arab, Islamic and Christian identities are being distorted and lands in Jordan Valley are being confiscated, Shtayyeh added.

The new PA prime minister hailed the role of the IRC in the occupied Palestinian territories and the help it offers to prisoners and their family who wish to visits them.
