The Palestinian National Popular Action Authority — a coalition of conferences, organisations and independent national figures — announced on Sunday its complete rejection of what it described as an American plan to impose “international trusteeship” on the Gaza Strip through the establishment of a transitional administration operating outside the will of the Palestinian people.

In a statement carried by Quds Press, the Authority warned that such a proposal represents “a blatant violation of the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and an attempt to reproduce a new form of colonialism using modern tools”.

The body stressed that any arrangements concerning Gaza must be determined solely by Palestinians, in a manner that preserves their historical rights, territorial unity and the legitimacy of their resistance.

It further noted that any international force deployed in Gaza must operate under a strictly defined and neutral mandate, without exercising administrative or political authority, so as not to become “a disguised trusteeship or an alternative governing power”.

The Authority called on all official Palestinian institutions, political factions and popular movements to publicly reject external trusteeship proposals, urging unity to protect the independence of Palestinian national decision-making.

It also encouraged Palestinians to express opposition through peaceful, popular, legal and media-based means.

The statement concluded by reaffirming the commitment to unified popular action “in defence of the rights of the Palestinian people, rejecting all forms of trusteeship, and supporting their resistance and steadfastness until full freedom is achieved”.
