The Israeli Security Agency (Shin Bet) announced the arrest of a 21-year-old Israeli man from Beersheba on suspicion of communicating with Iranian intelligence and carrying out espionage missions inside Israel.

Israeli Channel 12 reported that the suspect, identified as Rafael Reuveni, is a regular soldier serving at the Hatzerim Air Force Base. According to the investigation, Reuveni allegedly maintained covert contact with Iranian handlers, who paid him through digital payment platforms.

Shin Bet said the suspect carried out several field assignments, including photographing locations in Beersheba, planting equipment at predetermined sites, collecting and delivering a SIM card from a hidden location, and attempting to locate and relocate a concealed pistol at the instruction of his contacts.

Reuveni faces multiple serious charges, including contact with a foreign intelligence agency, passing information to the enemy, and conducting espionage activities within Israel.

Israeli security agencies have not yet disclosed how the espionage network was uncovered or whether additional arrests are expected.
