Israel continues to prevent international journalists from entering the Gaza Strip independently to report on conditions there, despite the ongoing ceasefire.
On Tuesday, the Supreme Court in Jerusalem held another hearing on a petition submitted by the Foreign Press Association (FPA), which is seeking permission for foreign journalists to access the besieged territory without being embedded with the Israeli military.
The court again granted the government a further postponement before it must present its arguments.
According to the FPA, this marks the ninth delay since the petition was first filed in September last year. The court has now given the government until 21 December to submit its written response.
In a statement, the association described the situation as “utterly absurd.”
“We are outraged by the continued delays and disappointed that the court continues to allow this,” the organisation added.
The restrictions mean that foreign media remain unable to independently verify humanitarian conditions inside Gaza, where Israel’s genocidal offensive has left unprecedented levels of devastation.
