The Loyalty to the Resistance Bloc in Lebanon said on Thursday that the government had made “another slip” by describing its representative as “civilian” in the committee overseeing the mechanism related to the cessation of hostilities.
In a statement issued after a regular meeting that discussed several political and parliamentary matters linked to Lebanon, Palestine and the region, the bloc said the authorities had “committed another mistake by naming a ‘civilian’ to take part in the mechanism committee responsible for supervising the cessation of hostilities, in clear contradiction even with previous official positions that tied civilian participation to a full halt of hostilities”.
The bloc added that the Lebanese state had made a “free concession” that would not stop the aggression, “because Israel wants to keep Lebanon under fire with the support and cover of the United States”.
It also said that the bloc believes the Lebanese authorities still have the chance to slow down their “rapid and free concessions” to the enemy “by taking a firm decision and insisting that the enemy comply with the agreement first”, especially as the breaches and attacks “have reached thousands and caused the death and injury of hundreds of Lebanese citizens, in addition to the destruction of many public and private properties”.
The statement further noted that the bloc has observed “a rise in conciliatory language” from some groups and figures towards Israel, including those who “justify its crimes, express understanding of the Israeli army’s daily attacks, or provide platforms for its spokespeople or promote its narratives”. The bloc said this conduct represents “a clear and blatant violation of Lebanese laws” regarding engagement with an official enemy of the state.
