The International Organisation for Migration (IOM) said on Tuesday that around 2,000 people were displaced in a single day from the village of Al-Sarha in North Kordofan, amid worsening security conditions caused by intensified fighting in Sudan, Anadolu Agency reported.
In a statement, the organisation said its field teams estimated that approximately 2,000 residents fled Al-Sarha village, located in the Umm Dam Haj Ahmed area of North Kordofan, on Monday due to escalating violence and insecurity linked to clashes between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
The IOM said the displaced families moved to various areas within Omdurman, part of the Sudanese capital region.
The organisation warned that the situation in the Kordofan region remains tense and volatile, adding that it continues to closely monitor developments on the ground.
Since October, the three Kordofan states — North, West and South — have witnessed intense fighting between the army and the RSF, triggering repeated waves of displacement.
On Monday, the IOM reported that the number of people displaced across the Kordofan states had reached 64,890 between 25 October and 30 December 2025, highlighting the growing humanitarian impact of the conflict in central and western Sudan.
