Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Baghaei said on Monday that Tehran is facing what he described as a “complex war,” warning that any response would be “painful and regrettable,” amid rising regional tensions and continued Israeli threats.

Speaking at his weekly press conference, Baghaei said Iran is monitoring what he called “continuous threats and incitement” from Israel, holding it responsible for destabilising the West Asia region.

Baghaei began his remarks by congratulating veterans and members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) on “Veterans Day,” praising their sacrifices in what he described as defending Iran.

He said Israeli attacks continue despite a “superficial ceasefire” in Palestine and Lebanon. Citing figures reported by Iran’s Tasnim News Agency, Baghaei claimed there were 15 violations of Lebanese airspace in a single day and around 6,000 ceasefire violations over the past year.

The spokesman also referred to the killing of “260 Palestinian citizens of Israel since last year,” describing it as further evidence of what UN reports had characterised as an apartheid regime.

Baghaei also criticised US double standards on human rights, arguing that Washington overlooks violations in Palestine while accusing Iran and imposing restrictions on Iranian officials.
