Kuwait has added eight Lebanese hospitals to its terrorism list, according to a report by the Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Rai.

The paper said the committee responsible for implementing UN Security Council resolutions on combating terrorism and preventing the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction had taken the decision.

According to the report, the committee may list any individual or entity on its own initiative or at the request of a competent foreign or domestic authority, provided there are reasonable grounds to suspect involvement in committing, attempting, participating in or facilitating a terrorist act.

The committee has requested the implementation of the listing decision in accordance with its executive regulations.

As a result, the hospitals are now subject to counter-terrorism measures in Kuwait. Kuwaiti banks, companies and institutions are prohibited from engaging in any financial or commercial dealings with them, including money transfers, service purchases or any direct or indirect economic transactions.

The hospitals named in the report are:

  • Sheikh Ragheb Harb University Hospital – Nabatieh
  • Salah Ghandour Hospital – Bint Jbeil
  • Al-Amal Hospital – Baalbek
  • Saint George Hospital – Hadath
  • Dar Al Hikma Hospital – Baalbek
  • Al Batoul Hospital – Hermel, Bekaa
  • Al Shifa Hospital – Khaldeh
  • Al Rasoul Al A’zam Hospital – Airport Road, Beirut

No further details were provided regarding the grounds for the listings.
