Palestinian Vice-President Hussein al-Sheikh has called for stronger international action against Israel, saying that condemnation alone is no longer sufficient in the face of “escalating violations”.
Al-Sheikh made the remarks on Tuesday during an expanded meeting in Ramallah attended by Arab and Western ambassadors, representatives of diplomatic missions and officials from international organisations operating in Palestine, according to a statement posted on X.
The meeting addressed the ongoing Israeli escalation and its serious political and humanitarian repercussions.
Al-Sheikh urged the international community to fulfil its legal and moral responsibilities by applying “real and effective pressure” on the Israeli government to halt what he called aggression and continuous violations, to respect international law, and to recognise the internationally acknowledged sovereignty of the State of Palestine.

He warned that continued international silence encourages Israel to persist with what he described as aggressive and settlement policies. “Mere condemnation and denunciation are no longer sufficient,” he said, calling instead for clear and decisive measures that would ensure the implementation of international law and United Nations resolutions, ultimately leading to the establishment of a Palestinian state.
Al-Sheikh also briefed participants on developments in Gaza, referring to continued military operations, a siege, starvation and unprecedented humanitarian suffering.
He further cited escalating settler attacks in the West Bank, ongoing land confiscations and the withholding of Palestinian tax revenues, which he said have deepened a financial and economic crisis in violation of international law and UN resolutions.
