Hezbollah claims drone swarm attack on military base in northern Israel

Hezbollah said on Tuesday that it had targeted a military base in northern Israel using a swarm of drones.

In a statement, the group said it had launched the drones at dawn on Tuesday at radar sites and control rooms at the Ramat David air base in northern Israel.

Earlier, the Israeli military said in a brief statement that it had intercepted two drones launched from Lebanon, without providing further details.

At dawn on Monday, Hezbollah said it had targeted a military site in northern Israel with a salvo of rockets and drones. The group said the attack was in response to Israel’s ongoing attacks on Lebanon and the assassination of Iran’s Supreme Leader. 

For its part, Israel announced the start of what it called an “offensive battle” against Hezbollah, which it expected to last several days. It carried out air strikes on Beirut’s southern suburbs and southern Lebanon, killing 52 people and wounding 154 others, according to the government’s Disaster Management Unit.

Israel has continued to breach a ceasefire agreement in force with Hezbollah since November 2024 on an almost daily basis, resulting in hundreds of people killed and injured.
