The United Arab Emirates on Sunday denied Israeli media reports claiming that the Gulf nation had attacked a water desalination facility in Iran, Anadolu reports.
“This is fake news. When we do something, we have the courage to announce it,” Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi, chairman of the defense, interior and foreign affairs committee at the Federal National Council (FNC), said on the US social media company X.
Israeli Channel 15, citing unnamed Israeli sources, earlier claimed that the UAE had attacked a water desalination plant in Iran.
The claim was widely circulated by Hebrew-language media outlets, including the public broadcaster KAN.
KAN claimed that Israeli officials confirmed the UAE had carried out its first attack on Iranian targets since the conflict erupted last week.
Regional escalation flared up since Israel and the US launched a joint attack on Iran on Feb. 28, killing more than 1,200 people, including Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, and injuring over 10,000 others.
Tehran retaliated with missile and drone attacks targeting Israel and Gulf countries that are home to US military assets.
