The Israeli army has acknowledged significant difficulties in intercepting drones launched by Hezbollah from Lebanon, with military sources describing the success rate of interception operations as “very low”.

According to the Israeli newspaper Haaretz, unnamed military officials said there is “significant difficulty” in stopping the drones used by Hezbollah in attacks against Israeli targets.

The sources added that Israel decided to engage in combat with Hezbollah at this stage without evacuating residents from towns near the northern border. They said the policy remains in place for now, although further decisions could be taken depending on developments on the ground.

Military officials also indicated that the operational plan in Lebanon has no fixed timeframe, warning that the confrontation could escalate into a protracted war.

During ongoing strikes in Lebanon, the Israeli army reportedly destroyed hundreds of buildings, including around 50 high-rise structures, which it said were linked to Hezbollah positions.

The sources further claimed that the recent US-Israeli strikes in Iran disrupted supply routes between Tehran and Hezbollah, including funding and weapons channels, forcing the group to manage the current confrontation more independently.

According to the same officials, Israeli military operations aim to counter three main threats from Lebanon: cross-border infiltration, rocket fire into Israeli territory, and the strengthening of Hezbollah’s military capabilities.

On Sunday, Hezbollah said it had carried out seven attacks using rockets and drones against Israeli military bases, troop concentrations and positions, and that it had also repelled two attempted Israeli advances.
