Iran has warned that any attack on its electrical infrastructure could trigger retaliatory strikes on energy systems across the region.

Ali Larijani, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, said that if Iran’s power grid were targeted, Tehran could respond by causing widespread disruption to energy networks in neighbouring countries.

“Of course, if he takes such an action, the entire region will experience a complete blackout within half an hour,” Larijani said, responding to recent remarks by US President Donald Trump.

Trump had previously claimed that he could destroy Iran’s electrical infrastructure within an hour, statements that Tehran described as a direct threat.

Larijani said such an escalation could severely affect the security situation across the region, including the safety of US forces stationed in the Middle East.

He added that Iran’s Supreme National Security Council was monitoring external threats closely and would respond decisively to any attack.

“These threats are being addressed with precision and vigilance,” Larijani said, stressing that Iranian authorities remain committed to protecting the country’s security and stability.

The exchange of warnings comes amid escalating tensions involving Iran, the United States and Israel, raising concerns about potential attacks on critical infrastructure and the wider impact on regional energy supplies.
