Hezbollah’s Secretary-General Naim Qassem said the choice of armed resistance has proven effective, adding that the outcome of the conflict will be decided on the battlefield.

In a written message to members of the Lebanese resistance, Qassem said that, after 15 months of allowing space for diplomacy, several realities had emerged. These included the resistance’s courage, the patience of its support base, and its commitment to agreements and pledges.

He said the approach had shown the group’s ability to repel attacks at the right time, as well as the level of preparation for the conflict. He added that the group had maintained ambiguity over its capabilities, their limits and deployment, without being tied to a fixed geographical area.

Qassem also said fighters had shown flexibility by moving from different parts of Lebanon to front-line positions, allowing them to engage the enemy effectively.

He added that Hezbollah had managed to surprise its enemy by neutralising its element of surprise, saying the group had identified hostile plans and prepared to counter them.

Qassem said a possible solution would involve an end to the attacks, a withdrawal from occupied territory, the release of detainees, and the return of residents to their towns and villages, alongside the start of reconstruction.

He reiterated that the group would continue fighting regardless of the sacrifices, saying the final outcome would be determined on the ground.

His comments come as Israeli attacks on Lebanon intensify, with increased air strikes and an expansion of ground operations in the south. The escalation has led to rising casualties and widespread destruction, amid international warnings of serious humanitarian consequences and diminishing prospects for de-escalation.
