Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said the United States has failed to achieve its objectives, describing developments around the Strait of Hormuz as “another defeat for the enemy”.

He said exchanges of messages between Tehran and Washington through intermediaries do not amount to negotiations, stressing that Iran is not engaged in any direct or indirect talks with the United States at present.

“The messages conveyed through intermediary channels do not mean there is a negotiation process,” he said, referring to ongoing diplomatic efforts to contain tensions. He added that “Iran does not intend to hold talks with America at this time”.

Speaking to Iranian state television, Araghchi said the “enemy” had failed to divide the country or secure a quick victory, and had also failed to break national unity. He said people continue to show support in public gatherings each night.

He added that the United States had failed to meet its goals, including achieving a swift victory or bringing about regime change. Iran, he said, had shown the world that no country can threaten its security or impose its will on it.

Araghchi described the conflict as a “golden point” in Iran’s history, saying it had prevented two nuclear powers from achieving their aims.

He also said US bases in the region had been used to launch operations against Iran.

He stressed that Iran has no hostility towards countries in the region and targets only US bases and locations used to carry out attacks against it.
