Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ Al-Sudani on Thursday ordered the strongest possible measures to pursue those involved in targeting vital institutions, diplomatic missions and the kidnapping of foreign nationals.
According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s media office, reported by Iraqi News Agency (INA), Al-Sudani, in his capacity as Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces, visited the headquarters of the Federal Intelligence and Investigations Agency at the Interior Ministry in Baghdad.
The statement said he received a comprehensive briefing on the agency’s procedures and its efforts to address current challenges, including attacks on key institutions, diplomatic missions and cases involving the abduction of foreign citizens.
Al-Sudani stressed “the need to take the strongest measures to pursue those involved in these hostile acts that harm the country’s reputation and affect citizens’ interests.”
He also underlined “the importance of making every effort to maintain internal security.”
“There will be no red lines in enforcing the law, regardless of the parties concerned, and there can be no leniency in its implementation,” the Iraqi PM said.
