Egyptian Foreign Minister, Badr Abdel-Aty reaffirmed Egypt’s position rejecting the establishment of “parallel entities” in Sudan, stressing the importance of preserving the country’s unity and territorial integrity.
In a phone call with the European Union’s Special Representative for the Horn of Africa, Annette Weber, Abdel-Aty discussed developments in the Horn of Africa and preparations for the upcoming ministerial conference on Sudan in Berlin.
According to a statement from the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, he emphasized the need for a Sudanese-led political process to end the conflict, alongside the importance of reaching a humanitarian truce as a step toward a lasting ceasefire and improved access for aid delivery.

Abdel-Aty also condemned violations against civilians, describing them as serious breaches of international humanitarian law, and stressed the need to protect both civilians and infrastructure.
Both sides highlighted the importance of strengthening coordination and cooperation to support security, stability, and development across the Horn of Africa.
The Egyptian minister further reiterated Cairo’s commitment to supporting Somalia, particularly through capacity building in security and counterterrorism, and called for sustained funding for the AMISOM to ensure it can effectively carry out its mandate.
