Turkey has condemned Israeli military operations in southern Syria, describing them as a violation of Syrian sovereignty and calling on the international community to act to halt the attacks.

In a statement issued on Monday, the Turkish Foreign Ministry criticised Israeli strikes targeting the governorates of Quneitra and Daraa.

“We strongly condemn Israel’s attacks on Quneitra and Daraa, which violate Syria’s territorial integrity and sovereignty,” the ministry said.

The statement added that the attacks endangered civilians and their property and described them as a clear violation of international law and the 1974 Disengagement Agreement.

Ankara called on the international community to take responsibility for ending the attacks, warning that their continuation threatens regional stability and undermines progress made in Syria in recent years.

The statement followed reports that Israeli forces opened fire on civilians in Daraa province on Sunday evening and shelled a village with artillery while Israeli warplanes carried out intensive overflights across the area.

In recent months, southern Syria has witnessed an increase in Israeli military operations, including airstrikes, ground incursions, raids on civilian homes, the establishment of military checkpoints and arrests in several areas.

Israel has said its operations in Syria are aimed at preventing hostile groups and Iranian-backed forces from establishing a military presence near its border.
